Are you a young leader living in Lusaka? Are you passionate about giving back to your city? If you can sincerely answer ‘yes’ to both these questions, you are exactly what the Lusaka Global Shapers are looking for!

The Global Shapers Community is an initiative of the World Economic Forum (WEF) designed to recognise young leaders in their own cities, and give each of them a platform to execute projects that benefit that city. Global Shapers serve as the voice of the youth to their cities, the WEF and the international community at large. Whilst being recognised as a Global Shaper is a great honor, it is also a responsibility – to work for your city. Shapers are required to:

  • Attend monthly meetings (usually on Sunday afternoons)
  • Regularly access the internet
  • Participate in Global Shaper Projects (roughly 5 hours a week)
  • Start initiatives that will help develop the effectiveness and strength of the Lusaka Global Shapers

Those that are unable to meet these expectations will be asked to leave the community. Finally, this is not a funded position. In fact, shapers have been known to put in their own money in order to move projects forward.

If you’re interested in being a 2014 Lusaka Global Shaper, you’ll find the application form on the Lusaka Global Shapers Facebook page or at startupjunction.net.
